Since January 2022, when we launched the One World Project for low-and middle-income countries, we have reached more than 525.000 healthcare professionals and 7m hours of training in over 50 countries.

We would like to thank all our partners who have supported this initiative: UNFPA, WHO AFRO, The Royal College of Midwives, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, Jhpiego, American Academy of Pediatrics, Maternity Foundation, RCNi, American Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau among many others.

Without the help of our global partners the International Council of Nurses and a collaboration with the International Confederation of Midwives, of all our stakeholders, donors, and education providers that have helped us achieve these amazing milestones.

5th of May – International Day of the Midwife

MIDWIVES ARE THE WORLD’S ORIGINAL FIRST RESPONDERS. THEY STOOD BY US; NOW LET’S STAND BY THEM.

This year, the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), turns a century old, so what better theme for International Day of the Midwife than “100 Years of Progress.”

The UNFPA, the ICM and the World Health Organization’s 2021 State of the World’s Midwifery report revealed that if governments invested in midwives, 4.3 million lives could be saved every year by 2035, a number that includes maternal deaths, neonatal deaths, and stillbirths.

Midwives have been strengthening primary health-care systems for decades and will play a vital role in the health and well-being of women, children, and adolescents in the decades to come.

WCEA, in partnership with world-class educational centers and international agencies, is delivering CPD training to ensure midwives are well-trained in front-line care to reduce preventable mortality and improve the well-being of children and their families.

12th of May – International Nurses Day

NURSES, A VOICE TO LEAD – INVEST IN NURSING AND RESPECT RIGHTS TO SECURE GLOBAL HEALTH

International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.

The International Council of Nurses (ICN) commemorates this important day each year with the production and distribution of the International Nurses’ Day (IND) resources and evidence. The theme for the 2022 resource Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Invest in Nursing and respect rights to secure global health.

Historically, as well as today, nurses are at the forefront of fighting epidemics and pandemics – providing high quality and respectful treatment and care. They are often the first and sometimes the only health professional that people see and the quality of their initial assessment, care and treatment is vital.

Over the past year, WCEA trained more than 200,000 nurses and delivered over 3,750,000 courses.

The World Continuing Education Alliance is honored to be involved in delivering training resources, blended learning and making key lifesaving resources more accessible to midwives and nurses in low- and middle-income countries.
