World Health Day 2024: My Health, My Right

This World Health Day, we’re proud to support the World Health Organization‘s campaign ‘‘My health, my right’.

ECHAlliance, Initiatives

With great pride, this 2024, we at ECHAlliance throw our full support behind the World Health Organization‘s campaign for this World Health Day 2024, ‘My health, my right’. As the Global Health Connector, we understand the vital link between health advocacy and our mission to foster collaboration and innovation in healthcare.

In today’s world, many people are facing challenges when it comes to their health. From diseases and disasters to conflicts and climate change, there are many things that can make staying healthy difficult.

Even though many countries say that health is a basic right for everyone, millions of people still can’t get the healthcare they need. Shockingly, over half of the world’s population, about 4.5 billion people, couldn’t get all the healthcare they needed in 2021, according to the World Health Organization.

This year, on World Health Day, we’re joining the call for ‘My health, my right’. This means that everyone should have access to good healthcare, education about health, and information. It also means having clean water to drink, fresh air to breathe, good food to eat, and a safe place to live.

At ECHAlliance, we’re dedicated to linking individuals and organisations across the global healthcare and digital health sectors. Through our extensive network of members, multi-stakeholder ecosystems and Thematic Innovation Ecosystems, as well as international projects, we foster collaboration and innovation worldwide. By leveraging our connections, we can amplify the campaign’s message, bringing stakeholders together to accelerate positive change.

The key message of this campaign is that we all have the right to:

  • 👩‍⚕️ Access safe and quality care, free from discrimination.
  • 🔒 Ensure privacy and confidentiality of health information.
  • 📋Information about your treatment and informed consent.
  • ⚖️ Bodily autonomy and integrity: make choices about your health and body.
  • 🧠 Make decisions about your own health.

As we celebrate World Health Day 2024, let’s remember that everyone deserves good health. Together, with initiatives like ECHAlliance’s efforts to connect, convene, amplify, and accelerate innovations in healthcare, we can try to help everyone get the care they need, wherever they are. Because health isn’t just something nice to have – it’s a basic right for all of us.
