At VIVE in Los Angeles on Sunday 25th February AI in healthcare will take centre stage for the Data and Digital session in our Partner Programme event. In 2023 AI made incredible advances with chatgpt attracting enormous interest and press coverage. Much coverage centred on risks including existential threats. So, what does the future hold for AI in healthcare? This question is important for citizens, patients, healthcare professionals, regulators, businesses developing and selling AI solutions and health systems globally.
In 2023 the Digital Health Society held a Round Table on AI and launched AI Club with a range of experts and stakeholders including academics, engineers, clinicians, technologists, and regulators to discuss a range of issues. The AI Club published a report here.
This panel session will discuss some of the important issues including:
- Global regulation
- Access to data, privacy, and data bias
- Safety & Evaluation and
- Explainability.
What is AI already doing today in healthcare and what might AI do for healthcare in the years to come? The development of technology outpaces the speed of governments to regulate, and this challenge was succinctly summarise by Professor Stephen Hawking who said “Our future is a race between the growing power of technology and the wisdom with which we use it”
