The DISH project participated in EHMA 2021, the Annual Conference of the European Health Management Association. DISH submitted an abstract titled ‘Digital & Innovation Skills Helix in health – The DISH project’, authored by Ms Trine Ungermann Fredskild and Ms Sabine Paasch Olsen, that was selected for a poster presentation and was then recognised by winning the EHMA Award for Best Poster.

The EHMA 2021 Annual Conference took place online through the lens of Lisbon on 15-17 September 2021. The conference brought together over 400 healthcare stakeholders including academia, research, health and hospital managers, healthcare professionals, policy and decision makers, and industry representatives. The theme of the conference was ‘Health Management: managing the present and shaping the future’ with a focus on discussing solutions to managing services in the post-COVID future. EHMA 2021 articulated around six subthemes: Governance and leadership; Person-centredness and care integration; Managing the digital transformation; Improving healthcare access and outcomes; Environmental sustainability of health services; and Health workforce.

Earlier in the year, the DISH project submitted an abstract for consideration under the subthemes Managing the digital transformation and Health workforce. The abstract was evaluated alongside over 200 other submissions by an independent expert panel and selected for a poster presentation.

During the conference, the DISH poster was presented by Ms Sabine Paasch Olsen. The presentation took place during a dedicated poster pitching session. Each poster presenter had three minutes to pitch their research in front of the conference audience. The posters were also available for consultation for all delegates, and the authors could be contacted via the conference platform for further questions and feedback on their research.

Every year EHMA awards three prizes to abstracts presented at the conference: best European paper, best non-European paper, and best poster. The awards are assigned by an independent jury panel who attends the various presentations and assesses the abstracts. The DISH poster won the EHMA Award for Best Poster and was announced during the conference Closing Ceremony.

The DISH abstract is available in the recently published EHMA 2021 Abstract book (page 91) and will also soon be published in the Portuguese Journal of Public Health.
