The buyers group, made up by Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau (ES), who acts as lead procurer, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (UK), Hospital Universitari Mútua de Terrassa (ES) and Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge (ES) published the contract notice on 16th January 2020 in both the Official Journal of the European Union and the procurement platform of the Catalan Government.
RITMOCORE (project co-financed by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Programme under GA 727796, coordinated by AQuAS) is a public procurement of innovative solutions, in which the buyers act as customers launching innovative products or services not yet available on a large scale in the market. The objective of the contracts that will follow the procurement process is to supply, at each of the four purchasing hospitals, support services for the implementation of the new RITMOCORE model of care centred in the patients with bradycardias and implanted with a pacemaker and improve both the health outcomes and the efficiency of the healthcare services. The RITMOCORE care model is based on four pillars: personalized arrhythmia treatment, remote monitoring, coordinated care and patient activation.
The new RITMOCORE model attends patients with pacemakers throughout their care cycle. Change management is essential for the effective implementation of the model, which will be based on risk-sharing contracts that regulate the co-responsibility between the buyer hospital and the successful bidder. The diversity of the four buyers in the RITMOCORE project will enable a validation of the shared value model at European level and will allow the future adoption of patient-centred treatments incorporating advanced digital technologies that foster remote monitoring, coordinated care, and patient empowerment.
