Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (IBG) is the first independent thematic Research Infrastructure in life sciences in Izmir, Türkiye. IBG’s main objective is to carry out powerful research on biomedicine and genome sciences, to develop products based on medical and pharmaceutical biotechnologies using its workforce and technical infrastructure, and thus, to contribute to global science and the transformation of national industry. IBG offers a broad range of research services for both academia and industry across various research fields under the below core facilities and technology platforms; Gene Targeting and Transgenic Models Platform, IBG-BIP, Bioinformatics Platform, IBG-Biobank, National node of BBMRI-ERIC, IBG-PHARMA, Drug Analysis and Control Laboratory, GLP-certified, IBG-NEVCELL, Cellular Therapies Platform, GMP Manufacturing Facility, Vivarium (Zebrafish &Rodent Unit), Rare and Undiagnosed Disease Platform. IBG has been coordinating two national high-technology platforms specializing in the design of novel adjuvants and vaccines, drug development and pan-cancer therapies.

 

As of 2023, IBG hosts 32 research groups in three main pillars (i) Basic and translational research program, (ii) Technological research program, (iii) Industrial R&D program with a research focus in the fields of cancer, genomics and bioinformatics, stem cells and regeneration, immunology and infectious diseases, rare and undiagnosed diseases, neuroscience and bioengineering.

 

IBG believes that fostering strong connections and collaborations is crucial for the success of our collective initiatives. IBG is interested in leveraging the diverse expertise within the ECHAlliance community to facilitate knowledge exchange, collaborative projects, and the sharing of best practices. Establishing robust networking channels would enable them to collectively address challenges, explore innovative solutions, and contribute to the advancement of healthcare and digital health initiatives. IBG looks forward to engaging with fellow members to build meaningful connections and collaborations that will benefit the entire community.
