Age-friendly housing is an integral part of our future society. To understand what must be done to achieve the Homes4Life vision, we need to take into account a number of likely socioeconomic, demographic, technological and environmental trends and/or disruptive innovations, which will substantially impact upon peoples’ lives across Europe in the next decades leading up to 2040. Some of these trends and their consequences outlined in the Homes4Life Vision document clearly illustrate that age-friendly housing and the relevant housing actors (public and private) could play a crucial strategic role in creating more sustainable societies in 2040.
