The article is an information about the Conference that will take place on May 25, 2021 in the online formula. The aim of the conference is to create a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience related to the application of the GDPR in the medical sector and good practices in the field of data security, coordinating activities and initiatives related to the protection of personal data and cybersecurity standards in the medical sector, as well as increasing the awareness of patients and healthcare personnel in the scope of personal data protection.

The conference is organized as part of the “GDPR in Health” cycle, which is the largest event regarding the protection of medical data in Poland, bringing together the largest, most important industry organizations, as well as representatives of the public party.

We invite everyone interested in the protection of personal data in medical entities to participate in this event. From the very beginning, we have been actively supporting the initiative to create the GDPR code for entities operating in the healthcare sector and we want to share our experiences with you, for which one of the best opportunities are meetings organized by the Polish Hospital Federation and the DZP law firm. As a national leader in laboratory diagnostics services, we hope that our participation in the preparation of the industry code and participation in the conference will bring tangible benefits for the medical industry in Poland,”

says Marta Rogalska-Kupiec, Vice President of the Management Board of Diagnostyka.

Acceptance of the GDPR Industry Code in healthcare can significantly help medical facilities in adapting to the GDPR requirements. It will minimize legal risks and maximize the safety of patient data. I am glad that, as the Polish Hospital Federation, we are one of the initiators of the Code. The “GDPR in Health” conference supports education in the field of GDPR in health care every year, and this year it will include the final provisions of the Code. As a co-organizer, I cordially invite you to participate,”

says Prof. Jarosław J. Fedorowski, President of the Polish Hospital Federation.

During the Conference, the “Code of Conduct for the healthcare sector” will be presented in detail, which on February 23, 2021 received a positive opinion from the President of the Personal Data Protection Office. The use of the approved code of conduct by entities performing medical activities will be able to demonstrate some of the obligations arising from the GDPR. In addition, during the Conference, issues related to the security of medical data in a digital environment will be presented. The conference is aimed at representatives of medical facilities responsible for data processing and cybersecurity in these facilities.

Ensuring the highest level of security of medical data in a digital environment is the basis of trust in information technology. Even today, in the face of a pandemic threat, they provide undeniable benefits to patients, doctors and healthcare institutions. The positive opinion of the President of the Personal Data Protection Office on the “Code of Conduct for the healthcare sector” is another step towards the implementation of the Next Health idea. It provides telecare and remote consultation opportunities in a safe technical, organizational and legal environment. It also allows you to take advantage of the fruits of artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data analytics and the Internet of Things. All this with the health of patients and the comfort of doctors in mind,”

points Michał Jaworski, member of the management board in the Polish branch of Microsoft.

The “Code of Conduct for the Healthcare Sector” is a very valuable and important initiative aimed at increasing the level of protection of patients in relation to the processing of their personal data. It deserves a greater appreciation because it concerns a specific sector in which the issue of data security must take into account the protection of the overriding goods, which are the health and life of patients. The healthcare industry is also special because it includes entities that are very diverse in terms of form, scale and scope of activity. For the Code Compliance Monitor, this diversity is an unique challenge,”

adds Piotr Burzyk, Manager in the Business Advisory Department, Internal Audit and Compliance Risk Management Team, KPMG in Poland.

The organizer of the conference is the Polish Hospital Federation, while the legal partner is the DZP Law Firm. The main partners of this year’s edition are Microsoft, KPMG and Diagnostyka. Supporting Partners are Prometriq, Wolters Kluwer and Salmed. The conference was also under the honorary patronage of, among others, The Ministry of Health, the Personal Data Protection Office, the Medical Research Agency, the National Health Fund and the Patient Ombudsman XXX is the media patron / honorary patron.
