Croatian ecosystem on AI applications in digital healthcare

AI4HEALTH.Cro is a Croatian candidate for the upcoming European Commission’s European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) call, focused on AI applications in smart healthcare. Our current activities are predominately oriented towards networking and exploring new partnerships to ensure our future users’ comprehensive support in development and testing of innovative health solutions based on AI, as well as cooperation with stakeholders from the entire healthcare value chain. We are also finishing the design of our future services for AI4HEALTH.Cro our users, tailored in line with their actual needs and preferences, including test before invest, support to find investments, innovation ecosystem and networking, as well as skills and training.

To promote the vast potential and importance of AI solutions in healthcare, AI4HEALTH.Cro and the European Parliament’s office in Croatia have organised a round table „The role of AI innovation in strengthening European digital healthcare“, which will be held on 15 October 2021 in Zagreb, Croatia. The main discussion topics include existing problems in EU healthcare, potential of new technologies in decreasing the healthcare burdens, as well as possibilities to strengthen the AI infrastructure in Croatia and the EU.

AI4HEALTH.Cro recently participated in a survey on ethical and social aspects of the introduction of AI in digital healthcare, both as surveyee and supporting hub for all included stakeholders from the public sector, industry, healthcare and civil society. In addition, the AI4HEALTH.Cro consortium member Croatian artificial intelligence association (CroAI), recently mapped the landscape of the local AI ecosystem (https://www.croai.org/landscape), which provides an overview of stakeholders developing innovative AI solutions, and voicing their successes and common concerns.
