CGI supports NSW Government in launching new digital licensing system

CGI has today announced it will supply a new digital licensing platform to manage the various licences, registrations, permits and certificates required by New South Wales Government Agencies to promote public safety and ensure compliance with legislation. The agreement with the New South Wales Department of Customer Service will see CGI support a digital first approach to state licensing using the Calytera Amanda product (now owned by Granicus). The five-year contract was awarded using funding from the government’s new Digital Restart innovation fund and will replace previously disparate licensing systems to enhance licensing across NSW and provide a more cost-effective, standardised and improved citizen experience.

In order to focus on seamless services, this new vision for licencing incorporates identity verification, automated approval processes and an integrated payment engine to provide error-free licence application and renewal turnaround with licences satisfying all approval criteria immediately issued online. The platform is used internationally for broad licensing functions and NSW is leading the way by deploying this digital licensing technology in Australia. The system supports digital issueance of licences through the Service NSW MyService app  and is tightly integrated with the Service NSW MyService platform that optimises the customer experience and provides a one-stop-shop for NSW Government digital transactions.

“This new endeavour with CGI and Calytera is a great first step in revitalising our licencing system in NSW and supports our vision to bring a digital-first approach to our customer services. We are looking forward to rolling out this new system for more licence types to create ever greater efficiencies for our internal processes and ensure we are providing an excellent user experience for both NSW Government staff and citizens,”

said Executive Director of Digital Programs Reece Clementi from the NSW Department of Customer Service.

“As a global leader in technology services, we are inspired by the NSW Government’s forward thinking drive to a new digital future. We are both honoured and excited to be provided with the opportunity to work with them on this crucial project that delivers a streamlined approach to licencing state-wide,”

commented CGI’s Les Davey, Senior Vice President, Consulting Services – Australia.

An initial deployment was rolled out in early December and the development of further licence types is underway.
