Digital Health Boost Hackathon is an innovation event that connects startups, businesses, innovators and students to explore the future of digital health for the aged population.
The number of individuals aged 65 years or older will globally surpass 1.6 billion by 2050 – more than doubling what it is today. There is a need for solutions that promote the well-being of elderly and help to maintain dignity of human life, while also addressing healthcare costs.
This event aims to find out ideas on how digital health can improve home living for the aged population, – whether it’s with devices, software or services. It is up to participants to discover how their solution will approach the topic, for example
Participants will co-create new approaches for 8 hours and will finally pitch their ideas for future collaboration. The event is organized by the UAShome project in collaboration with partners such as the Central Finland Welfare Area and EduFutura, other partners of the project: St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, University Industry Innovation Network, University College Leuven Limburg. Hackathon is organised by the UAShome project that is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Commission. UAShome aims to promote Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS) as innovation and entrepreneurship centres for Digital Health.

10.00: Launch of the event – How can digital health improve home living for the aged population?
10.30: Workshop – Love the problem, not the need
Participants explore customer and market needs with the help of mentors.
Opportunity to have a lunch break during this part of the program at their own convenience.
13.00: Checkpoint – What have we learned about the topic?
13.30: Workshop – Designing the solutions
Participants focus on exploring the novelty and business models for their new solutions.
15.30: Checkpoint – How to pitch your solution?
Tips for making an effective pitch.
16.00: Workshop – Preparing pitches
Participants summarise their findings into short pitches.
17.00: Pitching the solutions
Participants present their solutions or proposals for new partnerships. A jury of Finnish and European partners gives feedback and connects them further.
