The La Aldehuela Hub is an initiative of the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities in collaboration with the SIVI Cluster and is part of the Regional Government of Castilla y León’s drive to develop and incorporate technology for care and quality of life, especially for the most vulnerable, such as dependent individuals and people with disabilities.

It is a center that brings together various entities and companies working in the technology and care sector, creating an environment that generates opportunities for innovation through the exchange of knowledge and experiences. It brings together various entities and companies and is an example of the convergence of technology companies, social organizations, technology centers, and the government.

It includes a shared common area with meeting rooms, training and audiovisual rooms, a private area where each entity has its own facilities to carry out its work, and a “Living Lab” area where advanced technology is displayed to promote personal autonomy and caregiving.

The Innovation Hub makes Zamora a national benchmark in social and technological innovation and offers a suitable environment for the creation and promotion of new projects and the attraction of talent to the personal care sector.

The SIVI Cluster demonstrates how the Social and Healthcare Technology sector in Spain has demonstrated its strategic nature, as a driver of innovation and key to solving important societal challenges.

But the greatest challenge we face is never losing sight of what gives meaning to all these technological developments: their usefulness in improving the quality of care and raising awareness in this regard throughout the entire value chain of the diverse ecosystem, where talent is its key element.

Training Demo Visits Completed

This initiative, promoted by the Regional Government of Castilla y León and facilitated by the SIVI Cluster, aims to disseminate and train in innovative and technological solutions applied to the field of care and health.

Social and Therapeutic Gardening

The Social and Therapeutic Gardening week of the Training Demo program at the Living Lab of the La Aldehuela de Zamora Technological Innovation Hub has concluded with great success, bringing this innovative topic to diverse audiences, with particular success among seniors and users of social organizations.

The opening workshop, held on Tuesday, June 17th, and aimed at professionals in the social and healthcare sector, served as the starting point for this series of meetings. The day continued on Wednesday, June 18th, with two more sessions aimed at the general public, in which seniors actively participated, discovering therapeutic gardening as a valuable tool for physical, mental, and emotional well-being in a pioneering setting.

During both sessions, the first public outdoor Therapeutic Garden for social and innovative use in Castilla y León was inaugurated and put into use. It was designed using the prestigious Palmlöf method, an international benchmark in therapeutic gardening. This space, located in the Living Lab area, is establishing itself as a replicable model for active aging and combating unwanted loneliness by applying innovative new methodologies.

They also had the opportunity to work with virtual and mixed reality technologies to complement outdoor therapy and experience how technology can also offer innovative non-pharmacological solutions in this field.

Mobilizations and Transfers for Greater Autonomy

The workshops “Mobilizations and Transfers for Greater Autonomy,” held this Tuesday, July 1, and Wednesday, July 2, at the Technology Hub in La Aldehuela de Zamora, have established themselves as another success in terms of participation and educational impact, selling out.

Aimed at professionals in the social-health, social intervention, and care sectors, as well as users and caregivers, this week brought together dozens of attendees interested in acquiring practical tools to promote autonomy and self-confidence for themselves or the people they support in their daily work.

During the session, participants delved into mobilization and transfer techniques, as well as fundamental concepts for promoting independence for people with and without wheelchairs. In addition, injury prevention strategies and the use of assistive devices adapted to different environments were discussed. The Living Lab space allowed for practical demonstrations, bringing technical knowledge to life in real-life situations.

Given the high participation and positive feedback received, the “Training Demo” visits at the La Aldehuela Technology Hub, within the framework of the collaboration agreement with the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities of the Regional Government of Castile and León, reaffirm their commitment to ongoing training and innovation in the social and healthcare field. The training sessions will continue after the summer with new workshop topics.
