The inaugural Innovation Value Institute International Digital Health Summer School took place on June 8th & 9th, featuring fascinating presentations, in-depth discussions, captivating panel talks and intriguing insights on the realm of digital health.
The Innovation Value Institute (IVI) recently hosted the inaugural IVI International Digital Health School (IDHSS) on June 8th & 9th 2023 at Maynooth University (MU). The IDHSS was sponsored by signature sponsor Carelon Global Solutions Ireland, gold sponsor BearingPoint, silver sponsor DigiCare, and bronze sponsors Capventis, Dataflow Medtech & Hanover Medical Centre.
Over the two day event, we heard from an array of digital health innovators, medical professionals and top tier business executives, all striving for better healthcare services through the incorporation of revolutionary digital technology and emphasising the concept of Stay Left Shift Left 10X.
On day one, we had a brilliant distinguished lecture from Ex-US Surgeon General & Director of Health Equity Initiatives at Purdue University, Dr. Jerome Adams who gave us a captivating insight into his humble roots up until this present day and showcasing his current healthcare endeavours within the US state of Indiana. We also heard from Carolyn Gullery, Mary Carbajal, Donal Morris, Dr Charles Larkin and Professor Martin Curley. They have all assisted with the Manhattan Manifesto and it’s importance on the future of digital healthcare.
The first feature session conveyed what is required from a research and business acumen perspective to enter and to scale upward in the realm of digital health, speakers included Amy Neale, Raymond J. Hegarty, Professor David Henshall, Janette Hughes and many more. The second feature session highlighted the importance and advantages of Data and AI in changing healthcare for the better with John Glennane moderating this session, and speakers including Director of the IVI Professor Markus Helfert, Dr John Sheehan, Dr Dario Cazzola, Dr Margaret Hartnett, Patrick Doherty, Professor Anthony Staines and many more.
Day one concluded with a wine/canape reception and the showcase of three books in the Maynooth University library, with the author of OneHealth, Professor Piero Formica kicking off the proceedings, and contributions from Victoria Betton, Ved Sen & Gareth Presch.

Day one concluded with a wine/canape reception and the showcase of three books in the Maynooth University library, with the author of OneHealth, Professor Piero Formica kicking off the proceedings, and contributions from Victoria Betton, Ved Sen & Gareth Presch.
Day two showcased the five tenfold disruptive technologies that can change global healthcare and a session on user & patient driven innovation. We heard from an array of speakers in these sessions including David van Zuydam, Dr Jonathan Andrews, David Mulville, Ade Stack, Dearbhail Ormond and Dr Vinod Malik plus many more. Also, we heard from inspirational people such as Advanced Nurse Practitioner Karen Kelly and Parkinsons advocate Gary Boyle.
There was also an insight of digital health from an engineering perspective and what is required to assist in changing the digital health realm, which included Professor Fabrizio Dughiero, Dr Conor McGinn, Professor Linda Newnes, Professor Joan Condell and many more. We also heard from illustrious individuals such as Dermot Twomey, Dr Atilla Sik, Professor Cormac Sreenan and Andy Bleaden.
Day 2 concluded with closing reflections and insights from Orla Costello, a closing keynote from serial intrapreneur Chuck House and a closing speech from the event’s curator and chair, Professor Martin Curley.
