While many people are packing their suncream and heading off on their summer holidays, at Access Elemental Social Prescribing they have been hard at work. Their dedication to promoting new funding opportunities and supporting our customers hasn’t taken a break. With a brand new parliament, they are more motivated than ever to raise awareness about the benefits of social prescribing. Their goal is to ensure that every individual—regardless of age, background, or ethnicity—receives the mental health support they need and deserve. From children and young people to students and adults, they are committed to making a difference in mental health care for everyone.

Reflecting on July and Looking Ahead to August: Advancing Social Prescribing and Funding Opportunities

In July, Access Elemental focused on advancing social prescribing and securing funding opportunities. They actively promoted new funding avenues and emphasised the power of co-production in enhancing community health.

A significant achievement was our successful webinar, highlighting how Primary Care Networks (PCNs), Integrated Care Systems (ICBs), and Regional Leads can collaborate to address health inequalities and reduce avoidable GP visits. Their discussions at Housing 24 reinforced the need for integrated approaches in housing, health, and social care, underscoring how robust mental health support can address critical issues like housing-related challenges.

As they move into August, their focus remains on leveraging co-production to amplify the impact of social prescribing. Despite the cancellation of the Digital Pathway Framework Funding, interim funding options are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and they are committed to helping PCNs navigate these opportunities.

Their collaboration with Birmingham East Central PCN and Birmingham and Solihull ICB continues to be a priority. They are working together to maximize the benefits of modernising general practice and improving care navigation through digital solutions. This initiative aims to enhance patient access and streamline services, ultimately reducing GP pressures and improving community health outcomes.

For August, they are dedicated to supporting more ICBs in securing funding and implementing effective social prescribing practices.

This summer, The Access Elemental Social Prescribing have been busy supporting their customers in meaningful ways. One exciting highlight was sponsoring the touch rugby event, where Jo from Warm Wales participated and they watched their team reach the semi-finals. Members of the team were thrilled to go out and celebrate, showing our support while learning a lot about touch rugby and what it entails.

Opportunities like these allow to demonstrate their strong connections with the customers, proving that The Acess Group goes beyond being just a software provider. Customers like Jo and the team at Warm Wales do incredible work tackling fuel poverty, and it was a privilege to give back and be part of their success.

Attending events like these also gives valuable insights into the diverse interests and passions of their customers. It reinforces our commitment to supporting them in every way possible. The Access Group is proud to stand alongside organisations like Warm Wales, celebrating their achievements and fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.

Webinar Success and Future Funding Needs

The Access Elemental Social Prescribing is thrilled to report the success of their recent webinar, held on July 23rd. The event drew significant interest, evidenced by over 50 registrations within just a couple of weeks. This overwhelming response underscores the pressing need and widespread desire within the healthcare community to secure future social prescribing funding and enhance outcomes.

The webinar highlighted that despite the cancellation of the £300 million Digital Pathways Framework due to legal challenges, NHS England has introduced a new £48 million reimbursement fund as part of the Primary Care Access Recovery Plan (PCARP).

By discussing how this new funding works the importance of leveraging ICB and PCN funding to drive the digital transformation of primary care networks and services was also addressed. The discussion was focused on the various ways these new funding opportunities can bring about significant improvements in patient care and support services, addressing both immediate challenges and long-term goals.

A key takeaway from the webinar was the potential for greater collaboration and co-production between ICBs and PCNs. This collaborative approach is vital for better addressing community needs and recovering access to primary care at regional and national levels. Examples include enhancing patient access, streamlining care navigation, and improving healthcare delivery through advanced digital solutions.

During the webinar, they delved into the specifics of this new fund, discussing how it can be utilised effectively and its expected duration. They emphasised the importance of securing multiple funding streams to ensure the sustainability of support services and maximise the benefits for patients, communities, and healthcare professionals.

They discussed how to use this funding for digital social prescribing as it not only reduces GP workloads but also supports self-care, improves patient outcomes, and addresses the social determinants of health. By presenting the capabilities of our social prescribing software it was demonstrated how the social prescribing platform helps to build capacity across PCNs and ICBs to ultimately enhance the quality of care delivered.

The success of the webinar clearly indicates a strong interest in understanding and utilising new funding opportunities to transform primary care services. It also highlights the urgent need for ongoing support and investment in digital social prescribing to improve outcomes and address health inequalities.

The Access Elemental Social Prescribing is looking forward to continuing this conversation and supporting healthcare providers in maximising the potential of available funding.
