As part of our continued solidarity with the people of Ukraine on the 25th of July ECHAlliance together with the Ukrainian Cluster Alliance hosted its first Ukraine Digital Health Ecosystem gathering. The event, with 200 participants, focused on the topic of the role of medical clusters in developing rehabilitation.
The ECHAlliance Ukraine Digital Health Ecosystem started with the Chair of ECHAlliance, Brian O’Connor, offering an overview of our initiative the Ukraine Health Connector.
The ecosystem continued with input then from the European Commission and Ukrainian Ministry of Health. Cinthia Menel Lemos talked about a range of health security actions related to digital health from the European Commission perspective and Maryna Slobododnichenko, Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine, provided the progress of the Ukrainian Ministry of Health in European integration.
The Ukrainian Cluster Alliance input came from Olekandr Yurchak, who talked about its history of creation, mission and goals, Tetiana Vorontsova, who gave an overview of some of the medical clusters in Ukraine, and Olga Trofymova, who explained the internationalisation strategy of the cluster.
As an example of our community support for Ukraine and the launch of its first Health Ecosystem, Montse Daban, Director of Science Policy and Internationalisation at Biocat (our Catalonian cluster ECHAlliance member) presented their work with the Ukrainian Cluster Alliance and their recent visit to Barcelona.
Finally, following an introduction by ECHAlliance’s Community Director Andy Bleaden, two other ECHAlliance Ecosystems had the chance to present their excellent work as part of our network: Ion-Gheorghe Petrovai on behalf of the Romanian Transylvania Digital Health by FreshBlood and Delyth Wales on behalf of the Digital Health Ecosystem Wales.
