Some research carried out by Oxford Brookes University, Hospital Universitario Nacional de Colombia and Cognitant Group Limited has been published in the Journal of Diabetes and Technology.
Under the title, “Design and Usability of an Avatar-Based Learning Program to Support Diabetes Education: Quality Improvement Study in Colombia”, the research demonstrates that immersive video technology has the potential to deliver diabetes education to people in Colombia, via smartphones.
The research concludes that avatar-led, immersive and interactive education is ‘considered to be a very effective educational tool, with potential to educate even beyond the clinical setting’.
