Strata Health has tremendous respect for those who devote themselves to caring for others. We have empathy for those who need care, and as an entrusted partner to the NHS and Health and Social Care we have listened and responded to their needs at this most challenging of times.

NHS Borders has been a key partner for three years. Recently, their Integrated Joint Board approved Strata as their “Business As Usual Solution,” which would allow them to deliver critical, effective change in their Discharge Transformation Programme. However, the pressure of COVID-19 highlighted the need to rapidly operationalise and implement a specific program for COVID-19 to better manage limited capacity in the region.

Back on 6th April 2020, Strata Health UK’s Director of Business Development and Transformation and a practising Senior Nurse, Ms. Kathleen McGuire was seconded to work on-site alongside NHS Borders Staff to assist with:

  • Identification and implementation of additional overflow COVID-19 bed capacity within NHS Services and Social Care facility
  • Review of Care Home business continuity and resilience during COVID-19, with a specific focus on local, rapid operational contingency models
  • Optimising operational best practice to ensure patient safety and positive outcomes

The goal of this engagement is to rapidly assist with the operational and service change requirement. Through our global insights in patient flow and digital excellence and the local expertise of Ms. McGuire, we aim to support and add value directly within the organisation while maintaining the core values of NHS Borders.

We have agreed to use NHS Borders as an exemplar model for this value-based collaborative approach to change. Once refined, we anticipate that this unique service could be made available to other IJB’s and trusts, helping to build value-based relationships and integrated models of service across health and social care.
