The latest launch in England of the South West Interdisciplinary Technology Consortium for Healthcare (SWITCH) launched on 8 July in Plymouth was a tremendous success, taking place on 8 July in Plymouth with over 160 participants. The event was opened by Plymouth University and saw speakers from Gealthwatc, local NHS organisations from Somerset and Cornwall and Devon, NHSX, the new NHS digital lead, Ben Showers and Professor Andrew Morris, Health Data Research UK with an excellent presentation on the role of data science in healthcare.
Also presenting were Better Care by Marand and the South West Academic Health Science Network. A director of ECH Alliance’s ecosystems talked about the opportunities available within the wider Ecosystem network and how to organise and run an innovation pitch session that involved local businesses pitching to the whole audience. Future events are being planned involving Amazon and other key stakeholders in the South West and the Coordinator, Arunangsu Chatterjee, is keen to increase linkages with the other ecosystems within the ECHAlliance network.
Speaking after the event Andy Bleaden commented, “‘What a fantastic start to our latest ecosystem. Well done to the SWITCH ecosystem team here in Plymouth and welcome to our international network of digital health ecosystems.”’
