MONTREAL, QUEBEC, March 17th, 2020 – Recognizing the mutual benefits of uniting the research, industrial, and scientific communities and strengthening ties between health and wellness ecosystems dedicated to aging issues, ECHAlliance (the European Connected Health Alliance) and TechnoMontréal (the Technology Cluster of Greater Montreal) have signed an agreement to promote collaborations between both ecosystems within the ECHAlliance network and Quebec (Canada).

The goal is to facilitate and develop opportunities for research, industrial collaboration, and projects affiliated with health and wellness ecosystems dedicated to aging populations.

These ecosystems are part of open innovation approaches that focus on people’s needs, set in real environments with end users and other relevant stakeholders, while incorporating a variety of research and development methods throughout the different stages of the innovation process. The academic and industrial sectors will participate and collaborate through testing/prototyping environments within the ecosystems involved in this partnership. A process that facilitates collaboration between industry players within those same ecosystems will also be defined and established.

TechnoMontréal is a partner of the Bien vieillir chez soi living lab, a project initiated by a consortium of five companies and four research centers and universities. Teaming up with ECHAlliance will make it possible to develop a more international collaboration, share and align best practices among the world’s top health and wellness ecosystems, test solutions for the senior population, and open new international markets for Canadian companies by focusing on the well-being of senior citizens.

“We’re thrilled to be joining the ECHAlliance network. This is an opportunity to integrate Quebec’s ecosystem into a global network of 78 countries and boost our capacity for innovation in connected health. The ability to communicate with over 40 ecosystems will be a pivotal advantage for the well-being of our society and the influence of Quebec’s connected health ecosystem,” says François Borrelli, president and CEO of TechnoMontréal. “We are enormously proud to be working with colleagues from TechnoMontreal the IT cluster of Metropolitan Montreal and have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work closely together and towards the goal of the creation of a Digital Health Ecosystem for Quebec that can join our ECHAlliance Network of Digital Health Ecosystems.

The team in Montreal get what connecting the dots mean in Digital Health and we are pleased to be able to help connect them to our wider Global Network.” says Andy Bleaden, Director of ecosystems and membership at ECHAlliance
