The lack of an EU-wide legal framework that defines the conditions for accessing clinical trials in another member state creates formidable barriers for patients and healthcare professionals.

Patients Unite aims to map out the current status of cross-border clinical trial access in each European country, detailing the legal, ethical, financial, logistical, and other operational aspects, and develop recommendations to overcome current barriers.
The initiative is a concerted effort by patient organisations, academics, research networks, industry, and not-for-profit organisations, led by the EFGCP and EFPIA.
