Connected Health’s Director of Care for Northern Ireland Lorraine Corr has won the ‘Dignity through Continence Care’ Award at the Staff Nursing Care Awards on Thursday 21st April 2022. The culmination of our work within the innovation space is the development of a new product called ‘Airception’ developed to essentially detect incontinence incidents without the need for ‘on skin’ sensors or pads. The staff nursing awards took place in the Titanic Belfast in Belfast, where Connected Academy were also highly commended for the ‘Investment in Training’ Award and Connected Health Area Manager Geraldine Morrison who was highly commended for the ‘End of Life Care Champion’ award.

Connected Health’s Director of Care for Northern Ireland Lorraine Corr has won the ‘Dignity through Continence Care’ Award at the Staff Nursing Care Awards on Thursday 21st April 2022.

Connected Health is leading the way in terms of improving the knowledge, empathy and technology approaches to continence care.

As the fastest growing healthcare company in Ireland this approach on continence care sits within a stable of new innovative services provided by Connected Health 2.0 providing technology driven solutions in home care and upskilling our specialist carers to deliver these services.

The culmination of our work within the innovation space is the development of a new product called ‘Airception’ developed to essentially detect incontinence incidents without the need for ‘on skin’ sensors or pads.

This device has been developed by our Innovation team in tandem with our Connected Health Living Lab (essentially the older and vulnerable adults we work with every day) our Governance and Clinical Care Board led and chaired by ex NHS Medical Director, Professor George Crooks, and a cross section of staff responsible for our training and physical continence care approaches across the business.

Connected Health embeds dignity through continence care in our training agenda; our culture is one of continuous learning and development. We provide a variety of educational opportunities, OCNLevel1 endorsed course at induction level, NVQ Level3 throughout the journey of care assistant, Level5 at leadership management level, as well as bespoke modules that reflect its high priority in our communities, for example Continence Management.

Quality Assurance Coordinator for The Belfast Trust said

“I just want to share some praise for Connected Health. I know we can be good at sharing when things are not going well but I want Connected Health to be given appropriate recognition at Governance level that they are providing a fantastic service for the clients that I have currently on my caseload. Keep up the good work! So person centred and able to adapt to the needs of the client where reasonably possible. Good level of communication between family, client, and professionals. ”

Connected Health liaise closely with District Nursing teams who could validate the high-quality continence care with dignity we deliver daily.

The staff nursing awards took place in the Titanic Belfast in Belfast, where Connected Academy were also highly commended for the ‘Investment in Training’ Award and Connected Health Area Manager Geraldine Morrison who was highly commended for the ‘End of Life Care Champion’ award.
