NeedleSmart Digital Vacinnation System (DVS)

NeedleSmart Digital Vacinnation System (DVS)
Member News

A mass vaccination programme will demand a scale, speed and compliance level that will challenge all current vaccination protocols. According to BD, the largest producer of injection devices in the world, UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced that the UK Government was, “working hard” to setup a Covid-19 vaccination programme along with the “biggest flu vaccination programme in history”. [1]

Our DVS has been created to support a mass vaccination programme by delivering a single solution that can coordinate every individual vaccination initiative into a single, coherent vaccination programme.

The NeedleSmart DVS is made up from 4 elements that combine to produce a seamless, secure system for digitalising vaccination data:

Cloud-based database

Secure, centralised data available to be downloaded into any health record system to be used for official health passports, to trigger logistic resupply, as unique proof of compliance, to trigger vaccination payments, to trigger follow up appointments for boosters, to ‘block’ recalled vaccinations batches and more.

NeedleSmart App

Smartphone App allows patients to register onto the system and quickly identify themselves at clinic. It provides secure access to patient records and reduces vaccination administration to almost zero. The App could also be used to follow up on missed appointments to increase patient compliance.

NeedleSmart Scanner

Scanner connected to a laptop to scan the patient’s code (printed or smartphone) to open patient record instantly. The same scanner is used to record type, batch and expiry date and check against any product recall.

NeedleSmart Unit

Renders each hypodermic needle ‘sharps’ safe, reducing the risk of Needle Stick Injury to effectively zero. The device creates a unique digital signature that cannot be replicated and is indelibly linked to a single known patient. Secure data linked to patient record in database.

To deliver a single, coherent vaccination programme you need to know four things:

1. Who administered the vaccine?

A strategic vaccination programme will require multiple vaccination teams so a central database will be required to ensure compliance and to coordinate different providers.

2. Who was vaccinated?

Vaccination records will need to be accurate and accessible and Governments will need to track how a vaccination programme is progressing.

3. What vaccine did they receive?

It is highly likely that multiple vaccine types will be used globally, and different vaccines will inevitable have different levels of success.

4. When were they vaccinated?

A strategic vaccination programme will take months to roll out so it will be important to know on an individual basis when someone was vaccinated. Any vaccine boosters will also need to be calculated from the vaccination date.

NeedleSmart digitalises the vaccination process with every detail being automatically recorded in the Cloud. The speed and scale of a global vaccination programme will also inevitably raise the risk of needlestick injuries (NSI), so NeedleSmart provides a totally safe ‘sharps’ protocol by destroying the needle immediately after use.
