In my experience working extensively within the mental health sector, I see immense value
in sharing the impactful work happening across our network in honour of World Mental
Health Day on 10 October 2024. ECHAlliance’s broad community includes dedicated
members and ecosystems focused on advancing mental health, whether by uniting key
stakeholders in Scotland’s Mental Health Cluster or by delivering cutting-edge digital
solutions, research, and thought leadership in mental health.
Here, we are taking a closer look at three of our members leading significant mental health
initiatives:
As a longstanding ECHAlliance member, Koa Health combines advanced technology with
human-centred care to ensure accessible mental health support for all. Serving over 3
million users worldwide, Koa Health covers the full spectrum of mental health needs, from
prevention to treatment. Supported by renowned investors such as Morningside, Ancora
Finance Group, Wellington Partners Life Sciences, and MTIP, Koa Health operates in
Barcelona, the US, and the UK. Recently, they released insightful data on emerging mental
health trends, helping organisations proactively address workplace mental health risks,
challenges, and opportunities.
With over a decade of expertise in Digital Treatments as a Service (DTaaS), WellMind Health
has used their membership with ECHAlliance to create valuable mental health resources.
Their Pathway through Pain programme is among the five digital therapeutics currently
recommended by the NHS and is being further assessed through NICE’s Early Value
Assessment (EVA) programme. This evidence-based resource aids in pain management and
continues to push the envelope in digital health.
Founded in 1970 by someone with firsthand experience of agoraphobia, Anxiety UK is a
national charity supporting individuals affected by anxiety disorders. This user-led
organisation, informed by a high-profile medical advisory panel, recently emphasised the
issue of “medical gaslighting” and “diagnostic overshadowing” highlighting the unique
struggles people with generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) face when seeking medical care
compared to those without GAD.
Mental health remains a critical issue that requires collaboration, innovation, and support.
By showcasing the work of our members, we hope to inspire further progress in improving
mental health outcomes globally.
