Founded in 1995, and based in Mason, Ohio, the Link-age organization has already established itself as a significant contributor to better aging and post-acute health and healthcare management for the over 50 population across 39 States. This involves active roles in optimal group purchasing for over 1000 client locations. Link-age Members provide services across the full continuum, including Market Rate and Affordable Independent Living, Assisted Living, Life Plan Communities, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Home Health, and Hospice. Link-age also plays a critical role in research around older adult needs and facilitating better communication across the care continuum.
In the last 10 years, Link-age has also worked with the Ziegler Investment Bank in Chicago, Illinois to progressively establish and manage three venture capital/private equity funds to invest in startup and early stage companies that provide solutions for the older adult sector.
Now in 2024, Link-age is launching a new initiative called ‘Link-age Launch,’ which will operate as a venture studio focused on healthy aging and increasing health span. This organization, led by CEO Scott Collins, pictured below, aims to work with many of its client organizations and other stakeholders in the healthcare space to identify critical areas of need, or operating ‘pain points.’ Link-age Launch with then collaboratively develop potential solutions that can become startup companies that can be incubated and accelerated by allowing them to pilot their approach in a real-life environment, so as to de-risk the effort and help them to scale more quickly.
The early goal of Link-age Launch is to raise a fund to invest its early startups, of which there are two already. One of the companies, Healthonomy, is focused on using AI, and more particularly generative AI, to address workforce challenges by assisting staff with performing routine and tedious tasks; thus allowing them to devote their time to tasks that require direct human interaction. The other company, Assurance Health Network, is focused on reimagining the way post-acute sector employers provide health and wellness to their team members. As an alternative to traditional health insurance, employees receive facilitated person-centered care that goes beyond traditional health care. The program also uses personalized incentives to address needs associated with the Social Determinants of Health. The ultimate goal of the Assurance Health Network is to enable employers to better attract, delight, and retain their team members.
