Justina Law: rights, benefits and main obligations

The Justina National Law originates from the inspiration of a 12-year-old girl, who knew that she would die if she did not receive her heart transplant, and who asked her father “Daddy, let’s help everyone we can.” She inspired the multi-award winning MultiplicateX7 integrative, educational and awareness campaign. After her death, on November 22, 2017, her father and her team of innovators learned that communication was not enough to improve the health system and the processes associated with organ donation and transplantation in Argentina. For all this, and also so that Argentina can become a leader in organ donation and transplantation, they carried out National Law 27,447, called JUSTINA, in honor of that brave 12-year-old woman.

Discover more about MultiplicateX7 – Casa Justina:

Once the Justina Law was approved on July 4, 2018, it began to generate organ donation and transplant records that same August 2018. In 2019, transplants increased by 60% compared to 2018. In 2020, even with the covid-19 pandemic, transplants continued to be performed of organs. The same as in 2021. When in the leading countries of the world due to the pandemic they had to stop doing transplants. Even so, the Justina Law is not being fulfilled in its totality in the Argentinian territory. That is why the MultiplicateX7 team and Casa Justina, led by Justina’s father, Ezequiel Lo Cane, carry out communication actions (such as the attached link), training health professionals, judicial, law enforcement and NGOs. As well as open spaces for innovation in health to explore solutions that improve people’s quality of life.
