In collaboration with its media partner, The Journal of Patient Experience (JPX), ICHOM proudly presents the call for submissions for a Special Collection: Harnessing Patient Experience to Accelerate Value in Health Care.
The collection will feature the intersection between Value-Based Healthcare (VBHC) and Patient Experience.
On collaboration with our media partner JPX, Jennifer Bright, ICHOM’s President said, “We’re pleased to partner with JPX – a premier journal emphasizing the importance of and the practical actions to make patient lived experience the engine of value. ICHOM’s historical partnership with patients and scientific experts makes us a natural collaborator for the journal and a resource for its audience. Within our community, there are myriad examples of providers, payers and others who are using patient-centered outcomes to improve health. We look forward to seeing their stories – and the outcomes they are achieving”
JPX Editor-in-Chief, Laura Cooley, PhD, recently attended the ICHOM Conference 2023 as a Speaker and captivated the audience with her passion for patients as she moderated the session: The Role of Patient Advocates Beyond Having a Seat at the Table. How to Make Patients the Driving Force for Healthcare Transformation?
On the power of the ICHOM Conference and its network, Laura said it “engages an international community in conversations to drive change that will improve care and reduce suffering.”
ICHOM encourages this international ICHOM community to submit their manuscripts on accelerating value in healthcare. Articles can be submitted from now until June 1 2024. Potential topics are listed as part of the scope to aid in inspiring a truly valuable collection of articles.
With patients and value in-mind, Laura describes “ ‘authentic’ value as the genuine measured improvements in health and experience outcomes that matter most to individuals receiving care, in relationship to the cost of achieving those improvements. JPX aims to advance authentic value by emphasizing the impact of experience and engagement as reciprocal influences driving health outcomes. When we emphasize efficacy and empathy, we can focus on what matters most in the health experiences of individuals and communities.“
With these final thoughts, please read-on to find submission details, plus the aims and scope of the collection. Good luck and we look forward to reading your submissions.

The International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM), is a U.S. founded, globally focused non-profit that acts as a catalyst in defining standardized Sets of Patient-Centered Outcome Measures (“Sets”). Importantly, ICHOM Sets emphasize PROMs and other measures that are important to patients. ICHOM involves global experts and patient representatives collaborating through a structured and rigorous consensus process to determine which outcomes matter most to patients, and defines how and when to collect them in a standardized manner.
