The Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol (HGTP), often referred to as Can Ruti, is a major public hospital located in Badalona, near Barcelona, Spain. It is part of the Catalan health system and serves as both a general and specialized hospital, providing a wide range of healthcare services to over 800,000 citizens. The hospital is an integral part of a large biomedical research campus, playing a central role in advancing medical science and innovation through its close collaboration with leading research institutes, universities, and technology centers. This vibrant ecosystem fosters cutting-edge research, development, and the translation of scientific discoveries into clinical practice.

1. Healthcare Services: The hospital offers comprehensive medical services across multiple specialties, including emergency care, surgery, oncology, cardiology, neurology, infectious diseases, and more. It serves as a referral center for complex cases.
2. Teaching and Training: As a teaching hospital, HGTP is closely affiliated with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), providing training for medical students, residents, and healthcare professionals. It also offers postgraduate training and fellowships in various medical fields.
3. Research and Innovation: HGTP is known for its strong emphasis on research and innovation, particularly in health technologies and biomedical sciences. The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is a key component, fostering cutting-edge research in areas like infectious diseases, cancer, genomics, and personalized medicine. The hospital participates in numerous clinical trials and innovation projects, often in collaboration with international institutions.
4. Specialized Centers: The hospital houses several specialized centers and units, such as the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) for cancer care, the Institute of Predictive and Personalized Medicine of Cancer (IMPPC), and units for transplantation and rare diseases.
5. Innovation Unit: The hospital has an Innovation Unit that drives initiatives to improve healthcare delivery, foster the development of new technologies, and streamline clinical processes. The unit collaborates with startups, universities, and industry partners to implement and test new solutions.

They seek to expand our collaborations with international innovation and healthcare networks. The primary need is to connect with a broader range of stakeholders—hospitals, startups, research institutions, and policy-makers—to foster innovation in healthcare delivery and innovation.

They are particularly focused on creating synergies with other members that can accelerate the adoption of cutting-edge health technologies. Most importantly, to aim to participate in more European Commission-funded projects, so they are keen to build consortia and apply to competitive funding calls. By engaging with the ECHAlliance community, they look to enhance knowledge exchange, as well as contribute to the development of sustainable healthcare models that can be implemented across Europe.
