The key partners in this are the HSE, OoCIO being led out by Yvonne Goff as CCIO, Michael Porter from the Innovation Value Institute, KPMG and Microsoft. Martin invited others interested with assisting to get in contact with the eHealth team or the IVI. He explained this model is not looking to replace other models but to augment other models to deliver a better healthcare service. He invited Michael Porter from the IVI to speak for a few minutes to explain the benefits of the Capability Maturity Framework for the Health industry and how they are able to determine the process’s needed to be put in place to enhance the value health organisations once they have built the framework.
Martin then finished his keynote speech with a quote from Winston Churchill which he felt described the purpose and motivation of the people he had met in the eHealth Ecosystem “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give”
Mary Fitzsimons spoke of the epilepsy project being 15 years in development and how the foundation of their success was talking to the patients, the families and taking on board what they wanted and how they could access the systems. A Patient Mobile Application has been developed in order for patients to record seizure information, medicinal compliance and quality of life, GP’s will be able to review images.
