The Sri Lanka Connected Health Alliance ecosystem was Launched on 17 October 2019 at the Digital Health Sri Lanka 2019 Conference in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The launch was attended by a representatives from both the private and public sectors of Sri Lanka working in the digital health space. These included Digital Health Leaders and Medical Managers from the National Health Service of Sri Lanka; directors of private hospitals and hospital groups; CEO’s health related digital solution providers in Sri Lanka; CEO’s of mobile telecommunications operators in Sri Lanka; and academics from Universities.
Prof. Vajira Dissanayake welcomed all the participants and presented the vision and purpose of forming the SLCHAlliance.
This was followed by a video message from Brian O’Connor, Chair of the European Connected Health Alliance, who said
“Welcome to the International Network of Ecosystems, these multi stakeholder communities are now established across Europe. Working with the Commonwealth Digital Health Centre we intend opening Ecosystems in many Commonwealth countries”.
There after representatives from different partner organisations expressed their views and welcomed the formation of the ecosystem. This highlight of the launch was the signing of a MOU between the Health Informatics Society of Sri Lanka and Dialog Axiata, the largest mobile operator in Sri Lanka, to establish a digital health innovation lab – the first of its kind in Sri Lanka.
The ecosystem plans to meet quarterly and to have an annual meeting at the Digital Health Sri Lanka 2020 Conference in October 2020.
