On 17th July 2025, ECHAlliance – The Global Health Connector officially launched its 87th ecosystem in Abuja, Nigeria. The Nigerian Ecosystem Launch event, held at the Abuja Continental Hotel, marked a significant leap forward in the country’s digital health landscape. The launch was organised in collaboration with the National Institute for Cancer Research and Training (NICRAT), the Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS), and the Cancer Consciousness Initiative (CCI).
Bringing together an inspiring range of stakeholders, from policy-makers, healthcare professionals, and researchers to innovators, health insurers, and the banking sector, the event explored the future of cancer care, digital health, healthcare financing, and research in Nigeria. Notably, the Nigerian Ecosystem Launch opened with powerful testimonies from cancer survivors, whose voices set the tone for a day rooted in real need and collaborative action.

Throughout the Nigerian Ecosystem Launch, participants engaged in interactive panels, expert presentations, and a pitching session showcasing young innovators developing cutting-edge solutions in cancer care and digital health.
“I was delighted to be there in Abuja in Nigeria to witness and take part in one of the most powerful ecosystem launches I have been to (and I have been to many of them). On the day, thanks to the connections and leadership by Dr Hannatu Ayuba from the Abuja National Hospital as well as the Nigerian Cancer Society and the National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment, we were able to lead with the need – starting with the voices of cancer survivors, hearing about research progress in Nigeria, bringing in global voices from our members Professor Mark Lawler from QUB and Professor Marius Geanta who leads many of our cancer projects – as well as having a dedicated session on financing healthcare and, lastly, a fantastic pitch competition. A proper ecosystem launch, matching need and solution; breaking down silos, transforming healthcare, and offering economic opportunity.”
— Andy Bleaden, Director of Ecosystems and Membership, ECHAlliance
