ECHAlliance is pleased to announce its endorsement of the conclusions reached by the European Council on the ‘EU Global Health Strategy: Better health for all in a changing world’ in a recent press release, in which it reaffirms the leading role of the EU and its member states in advancing global health.

The Council has recognised the right to physical and mental health and has acknowledged that being healthy is essential for sustainable development. It highlights the need for the EU and its member states to take a prominent role in keeping global health a priority on the international agenda.

Brian O’Connor, Chair of ECHAlliance has said “On behalf of our communities in Europe and our Global Partners, we welcome these conclusions. This is a significant and positive decision which enables us to inject even more energy into our work within our global infrastructure developed over the past eleven years. We are actively implementing actions aligned with the EU Global Health Strategy, through our 75+ ecosystems globally, a worldwide flagship events program, and an innovation team experienced in international projects and funding. ECHAlliance remains committed to leveraging its resources and expertise to contribute to the successful implementation of the advancement of global health.”

In the realm of advancing global health, as emphasised by the EU Global Health Strategy, Brian O’Connor remarked on the indispensability of digital technologies, saying, “The EU Global Health Strategy recognises the vital role of digital technologies in transcending geographical limitations. They serve as the linchpin for democratising access to health information and fostering innovative solutions to complex health challenges. Digital technologies enable the synthesis of vast datasets to inform evidence-based policies, facilitate real-time monitoring of disease outbreaks, and enhance the delivery of healthcare services. This ensures that the principle of ‘better health for all in a changing world’ is not just a vision but a tangible reality.”
