In a groundbreaking development, East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) harnessed the power of Strata Health’s eReferral system, improving access to Lancashire Social Care Foundation Trust’s mental health liaison team in their emergency department.

This innovative digital platform streamlines operations, improves communication, and reduces administrative workload, ultimately ensuring swift access to vital mental health assessments and care. The project, funded by the NHS Unified Tech Fund, represents a significant leap forward in meeting the surging demand for mental health services in the emergency department, showcasing ELHT’s unwavering commitment to timely and effective care during mental health crises.

On 27 September, East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) achieved a major advancement in enhancing access to Lancashire Social Care Foundation Trust’s mental health liaison team from their emergency department. This accomplishment was made possible through the deployment of Strata Health’s eReferral system.

The digital system offers a seamless and efficient solution for requesting assistance from the mental health liaison team, a critical entity responsible for assessing, supporting, and coordinating patient care for individuals who present to the accident and emergency department and medical assessment unit of the acute trust.

By transitioning to a digital platform, ELHT’s primary objectives are to streamline operations, enhance communication, and reduce the administrative burden on staff through automation. Ultimately, this initiative aims to enhance the overall efficiency of the hospital, ensuring that patients gain faster access to essential mental health assessments and care. Additionally, Strata Health’s advanced reporting capabilities will empower ELHT to identify and implement performance enhancements.
