Digital Health and Discovery Platform (DHDP)

The Digital Health and Discovery Platform (DHDP) funds innovative research to accelerate precision medicine for cancer and neurological diseases by enhancing health data sharing, integrating AI into clinical settings, and mentoring future scientists. The Digital Health Innovation Fund supports research leveraging the platform, prioritizing oncology and neurology but open to other health and AI fields, fostering SME collaboration and commercialization potential.

Funding Opportunities

The Digital Health and Discovery Platform (DHDP) seeks to improve health outcomes for Canadians by accelerating precision medicine for cancer and neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s. To attain this goal, the DHDP funds groundbreaking projects that:

  • Breaking barriers to health data sharing to enable innovation across multiple sites
  • Find novel ways to incorporate AI to clinical settings
  • Mentor a new generation of scientists and clinicians able to problem-solve in complex environments

All projects funded by the DHDP undergo a stringent peer-review process. This promotes scientific excellence and ensures funds go to top research projects across Canada. Proposals will also be evaluated by their engagement in the use of AI methods.

Digital Health Innovation Fund

The purpose of this opportunity is to support the development of research programs through their use of the Platform. While the fund prioritizes oncology and neurology research programs, the DHDP is a disease agnostic initiative. Applications focused on other areas of health and AI research where similar data may be available (eg. diabetes, cardiology) will also be considered. By identifying and selecting research initiatives for their compelling science, projects will advance the design and use of the Platform to support meaningful and impactful projects. In parallel, the intention is to stimulate collaboration among small- and medium- sized enterprises (SMEs), while adopting a view toward the commercialization potential of research discoveries.
