The Bulgarian Joint Cancer Network (BJCN) is a non-governmental collaborative organization focused on advancing cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment through interdisciplinary research, policy advocacy, and stakeholder engagement. It plays a crucial role in national and European initiatives, supporting evidence-based policymaking, digital health innovation, and cross-sector collaboration to improve oncology care. BJCN actively contributes to projects like ECHoS, CCI4EU, EUnetCCC, 4P-CAN, etc., where it assesses national cancer policies, evaluates socio-economic determinants, and develops recommendations for improving public health strategies.
BJCN operates primarily in Bulgaria, but its influence extends across Europe through partnerships with leading cancer institutes, policymakers, and patient advocacy groups. It engages in multi-stakeholder initiatives, co-creating policy frameworks, conducting public health research, and disseminating findings to support open science and data-driven decision-making. Through participation in EU-funded projects and collaborations with institutions like the Organization of European Cancer Institutes (OECI), European Cancer Organization (E.C.O.), All.Can Interantional and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), BJCN strengthens cancer prevention strategies, enhances healthcare accessibility, and promotes sustainable oncology innovations.
Our network unites a diverse community of over 4,000 members, including healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, patient advocacy groups, and digital health innovators, dedicated to transforming cancer care and digital health solutions. Through collaborative projects, policy initiatives, and continuous medical education (CME) programs, we advance expertise across the multidisciplinary oncology continuum, precision medicine, digital innovations, and telemedicine. Our ecosystem fosters integration across all aspects of cancer care, empowering stakeholders through knowledge sharing, clinical management optimization (CMO), multidisciplinary e-Guidelines, digital and AI-driven transformation, and health literacy initiatives, ensuring that groundbreaking innovations reach healthcare professionals and patients alike.
Our Working Groups provide a platform for stakeholders to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and implement best practices in cancer prevention, early detection, treatment optimization, survivorship, and palliative care. By participating in EU-funded projects and policy-shaping initiatives, we contribute to strengthening healthcare infrastructures, improving access to high-quality cancer care, and advancing sustainable healthcare policies. As a non-profit network, we operate across Bulgaria and Europe, aligning with national and EU-level strategies to drive innovation, enhance multidisciplinary care, and support the digital transformation of healthcare.
As a cluster organization, BJCN seeks to shape collaborations within the ECHAlliance community to strengthen cross-border partnerships and accelerate sustainable system solutions and innovations in oncology. We aim to connect with like-minded stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, patient organizations, digital innovators and entrepreneurs, to exchange expertise and drive forward multidisciplinary, multi-Stakeholders engagement and transformation initiatives in healthcare. By growing our network, we can enhance the impact of our projects, support policy integration, and contribute to the development of sustainable, patient-centered healthcare models.
We are also eager to actively participate in regional, national, and international digital health initiatives across the Healthcare ecosystem. Through open-collaborations, we aim to co-create innovative and sustainable solutions, contribute to evidence-based policymaking, and integrate transformative approaches into oncology and broader healthcare domains. By leveraging the ECHAlliance community’s expertise and networking opportunities, we can further advance cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment optimization, ensuring that our initiatives align with global best practices and emerging healthcare trends.
