Phase 2 of the AI in Healthcare Programme is set to conclude in April 2025, marking a significant milestone in advancing AI-driven healthcare solutions.
Over the past six months (October 2024 – April 2025), 11 AI-focused healthcare startups from across the island of Ireland have participated in this transformative programme, delivered in partnership with the Connected Health & Wellbeing Cluster, The Data Innovation Hub, dConnect, and supported by InterTradeIreland’s ‘Synergy’ Funding.
Designed to equip participants with specialised AI skills and strategic insights, the programme provided tailored sessions, hands-on mentoring, and collaborative learning opportunities. Through a structured approach, founders refined their concepts, assessed feasibility, and developed prototypes aimed at revolutionising healthcare.
Workshops and expert-led sessions ensured alignment with industry needs, fostering collaboration, innovation, and market readiness. As the programme draws to a close, these startups are now positioned to introduce cutting-edge AI solutions that have the potential to transform patient care.
Hear from our participants:
“In a world where AI and information overload can be overwhelming, the team at DKIT stands out as a trusted and safe space. They invest individualized time and effort into understanding your vision, fostering a deep understanding that is invaluable in today’s fast-paced environment. Building on the momentum we’ve established, transitioning to a new stream or track would not only disrupt our accelerated progress but also risk losing the energy and relationships we’ve cultivated. By supporting DKIT through Phase 3, we can ensure the seamless development of products from wireframe to reality, leveraging the trust and expertise that has been built.” Maria
“Since we started the Screen Clinical journey delivering Patient Medication Services in GP practices, we have been frustrated by the restrictive tools at our disposal, the lack of sustainable patient outcomes and the inability to deliver valuable patient care at scale. We realised the only way to deliver these aspirations was by developing an IT platform but were struggling to find providers or developers that understood the complexities of delivering technical solutions for healthcare, processing patient data and overlaying clinical guidelines. The AI in Healthcare program we have been part of has been invaluable to help us begin the journey to delivering an AI-enabled tool that can have a massive, positive impact on how medications are prescribed and managed, helping patients and health economies benefit from increased benefit and reduced risk. The initial phase in 2023 provided great insight into what is possible (and allowed!) with AI in Healthcare and provided us with the courage and motivation to push forward with our ambitions and vision. The second phase built on this, and the ideation session provided the platform to have our first in-depth discussion with an expert team that helped focus our minds and get ideas down on paper. The facilitators also provided great guidance on what could be possible, technically, ethically and in terms of practicalities. The Feasibility Report produced as a result of the ideation session helped reinforce the positivity and insight and the subsequent wireframe produced by Brendan and his team really brought the concept to life and provided us with an invaluable tool to visualise how a final product may look and show to customers. As I said at the final workshop on Tuesday, the wireframe has moved the attitude to AI from fear to excitement! As well as the technical benefit from the program, there was invaluable insights into the legal challenges of AI in Healthcare, the ethics and the new AI Act.” Michael
