International Rural Mental Health Conference: Scottish Ecosystem

The inaugural International Rural Mental Health Conference took place at Inverness College UHI on Monday 12th Tuesday 13th August 2019 and attracted 82 delegates from across the world.  The delegate came from a variety of background including academia, NHS and the 3rd Sector.

The conference was opened by Prof Sandra MacRury, Head of School of Health, Social Care and Life Science at University of the Highlands and Islands.  There were presentation and workshops on a range of mental health subject for both Scottish and international presenters.

The conference launched the Global Collaboration of Rural Mental Health (GCRMH), the Collaborative is a membership network open to anyone with an interest in mental health and wellbeing within remote and rural areas.  The purpose of GCRMH is to provide an international platform for research, advocacy, and collaboration in the field of rural mental health and wellbeing.

The next conference shall take place on 2-3 February 2021 in Texas.
