UnConference 2024, Embracing medical AI - the annual event for debate and dialogue on the future of health solutions
CATALONIA.HEALTH organizes the Unconference , the annual debate and dialogue event on the future of health solutions, which aims to promote awareness, perspective and vision of the needs and opportunities of the sector , as well as the best way to face them. This year’s day will be on October 23 at the Grifols headquarters, Sant Cugat del Vallès, and will be dedicated to artificial intelligence in health .
Adopting Medical AI
In recent years, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine and healthcare has been praised for the great promise it offers, but it has also been at the center of intense controversy. Much has been said and debated about how AI can benefit healthcare of the future, increasing the efficiency of medical staff, improving diagnosis and treatments, and optimizing the allocation of human and technical resources . The truth is that AI is already a reality in health, and we are learning as we go.
This is why it is crucial not to abandon the reflections and debates related to clarifying the main clinical, social and ethical risks that AI poses to health care. More specifically, possible errors and harm to patients, risk of partiality and increased health inequalities, lack of transparency and trust, and vulnerability to computer hacking and data privacy violations.
The aim is to assess the areas in which AI can continue to contribute to the medical and healthcare field, as well as to identify the most significant risks and/or barriers that can be faced. Both to ensure the safety and respect of patients and to help developers and medical staff in their application.
The Unconference is possible thanks to the institutional support of EIT Health, Grifols and ACCIÓ.
