AGE-WELL Public Webinar Series: Exploring wandering prevention strategies and innovations

Six out of 10 people living with dementia will wander at least once, which can result in the person going missing, or critical wandering. One strategy to reduce the risk of critical wandering involves locator devices that use GPS (global positioning systems), but policy and practice changes are also part of the solution.

Webinar participants will learn about:

  • Devices that can promote safe wandering while allowing a level of independence, autonomy, and safety
  • Best practices for rapid response for missing persons with dementia
  • The policy landscape of Missing Persons legislation and recommendations for change

Speakers: Ron Beleno, Co-Chair of AGE-WELL Older Adult and Caregiver Advisory Committee and Noelannah Neubauer, Post-Doctoral Fellow, University of Waterloo and Occupational Therapist, Lacombe Hospital & Care Centre and Bentley Care Centre.
