What is the approximate stakeholder breakdown of your ecosystem?

The AI in Health Coalition currently unites over 150 leading national and global entities involved in developing and deploying AI algorithms, as well as advancing innovations in healthcare. As a Coalition, we bring together large tech firms, startups, industry organizations, universities, hospitals, law firms, and more.
We’ve managed to create an ecosystem where, alongside these 150 entities, we integrate and establish a safe space for discussions among:
  • Startups: Through our Top Disruptors in Healthcare report, we’ve fostered an ecosystem of over 450 medical startups from Poland.
  • Medical facilities: Through collaboration with the Polish Hospital Federation, with over 500 facilities.
  • Experts, patients, and all stakeholders within our network, which includes over 6,000 individuals.
  • Public sector representatives: through numerous meetings with decision-makers and active participation in discussions.

Who are the top 3 champions from your Ecosystem?

  • Polish Hospital Federation (PFSz) – a nationwide employers’ organization that brings together hospitals regardless of their ownership structure, size, specialization, or operating model. It represents  more than 550 hospitals in total. One of PFSz’s key strengths is its broad group of supporting members, including prominent national and international companies, healthcare system experts, and PFSz ambassadors. The Federation’s vision is a sustainable healthcare system that transcends divisions.
PFSz fosters integration among hospitals by facilitating the exchange of experiences, promoting best practices, and engaging actively in social dialogue around healthcare policy—both at the national level and within the European Union.
PFSz is a full member of the European Hospital and Healthcare Federation (HOPE), representing over 80% of hospital resources in the EU, as well as the International Hospital Federation (IHF), the only global hospital organization.
PFSz serves as the voice of Polish hospitals at the national, European, and global level.

  • The Association of Employers of Innovative Pharmaceutical Companies INFARMA – represents 25 leading pharmaceutical companies engaged in research and development and the production of innovative medicines. INFARMA’s goal is to undertake initiatives that positively contribute to the development of systemic solutions in the field of healthcare in Poland. Such solutions should enable Polish patients to access modern and most effective therapies, ensuring that treatment standards in Poland are aligned with global standards.
Through its activities, the Association aims to emphasize that the presence of global pharmaceutical companies in the Polish market translates into access to innovative medicines for patients—significantly improving public health outcomes.
  • Lazarski University (Łazarski University) -one of the highest-ranked private academic institutions in Poland, based in Warsaw. It comprises three faculties: Law and Administration, Economics and Management, and Medicine. The university’s educational offer includes bachelor’s and master’s degree programs (including English-language studies and dual-degree programs with both Polish and British diplomas), as well as doctoral, postgraduate, MBA, and LLM programs, PhD seminars, training courses, and language classes.
In collaboration with Lazarski University, the AI in Health Coalition launched the first postgraduate program dedicated to AI and Innovation in Healthcare. The second edition of the program took place during the 2024/2025 academic year.

What EU funding/collaboration are you involved with, or you would like to be part of?

The AI in Health Coalition collaborates with the European Hospital and Healthcare Federation (HOPE) through the Polish Hospital Federation (PFSz). HOPE is a Brussels-based non-profit organization founded in 1966, representing national public and private hospital and healthcare associations across Europe. With 36 organisations from the 27 Member States of the European Union, the United-Kingdom, Switzerland and the Republic of Serbia, HOPE covers almost 80% of hospital care and is also active in the healthcare and social fields.
HOPE mission is to promote improvements in the health of citizens and a uniformly high standard of hospital care by the European Union, fostering efficiency, effectiveness and humanity in the organisation and operations of hospital and health services.
HOPE is representing its members in the European arena covering all policies with an impact on hospitals and health services. HOPE contributes to the legislative agenda but also to the non-legislative activities in particular through participation in European projects and joint actions.
What are the key priorities and themes for your ecosystem?
Our recent report includes concrete recommendations and suggestions aimed at improving the functioning of the healthcare system, enhancing the quality of care, and increasing accessibility for patients. These are key priorities and themes for your ecosystem, which include:
  • Improving the quality of diagnosis and treatment in healthcare by leveraging AI tools accessible to medical professionals.
  • Utilizing the e-prescription infrastructure to support diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making.
  • Implementing new forms of patient-centered diagnostics and treatment—such as digital therapeutic applications.
  • Health profiling—creating an effective, data-driven predictive mechanism that enables targeted health communication to patients.
  • Using generative AI to improve access to reliable information within the healthcare system.
  • Opening access to medical data for research and development (R&D) purposes.
  • Integrating data from wearable and implantable devices with the national healthcare IT system (P1) to support continuous patient monitoring.
  • Strengthening cybersecurity in healthcare.

What is your primary strength as an ecosystem?

With over 150 active members across sectors, the Coalition fosters cross-disciplinary dialogue and cooperation. It’s rare to see tech leaders, clinicians, policy makers, and patient advocates working side-by-side—this diversity significantly enhances the practicality, relevance, and ethical grounding of its initiatives.
The Coalition consistently facilitates public-sector engagement—discussing with entities like the Ministry of Health, National Health Fund, Patient Ombudsman, as well as having their patronage over projects that Coalition is creating.
The Coalition doesn’t only launch projects conferences, podcasts, workshops, reports etc.) —it’s also a voice of many organizations, and ensures that its proposals (e.g., from the Opening Report) are actually heard (or even partly embedded into national strategies, like in Poland’s Digitalization Strategy).
Some of the Coalition’s projects include:
  • AI & MEDTECH CEE Conference: An annual international conference that gathers leaders from the AI and MedTech sectors to discuss innovations, challenges, and the future of digital health.
  • White Paper on AI in Clinical Practice: A foundational document providing guidelines for the ethical and practical integration of AI into healthcare settings, ensuring patient safety and professional accountability.
  • AI is not Sci-Fi Review: A publication showcasing real-world examples of successful AI implementations in the Polish healthcare system, demonstrating the tangible benefits of AI technologies.
  • Health in Conversation Podcast: A series of discussions featuring experts from various fields, exploring topics related to AI, digital health, and the future of healthcare delivery.
  • The Cybersec & Compliance in Health conference: annual forum gathering over 500 healthcare, legal, and IT professionals to tackle critical issues like GDPR, NIS2, ransomware, and data privacy in the healthcare sector
  • Educational Initiatives: The Coalition offers postgraduate programs and training sessions aimed at equipping healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the evolving landscape of AI in medicine.

Could you highlight some services, solutions or champions from your ecosystem that target the following areas either: women’s health, healthy ageing, mental health, or cancer.

The “Top Disruptors in Healthcare” report is a comprehensive annual publication by the AI in Health Coalition, serves as a strategic tool for identifying and promoting the most innovative medical startups in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe. The report aims to bridge the gap between innovators and key stakeholders in the healthcare sector, facilitating collaboration between startups, investors, medical institutions, and business partners.
According to the latest Report, we can showcase many interesting startups that target the following areas:
  • Women’s health: MIM Fertility offers advanced AI solutions for infertility clinics, supporting physicians and embryologists in making key decisions. EMBRYOAID assesses embryos’ implantation potential, while FOLLISCAN automates ovarian follicle monitoring during hormonal stimulation. Thanks to our AI algorithms, doctors and embryologists can analyze data faster and more accurately, resulting in higher treatment success rates and better patient experiences.
  • Healthy Ageing: Cel22 is a project aimed at building a community of people who aspire to live into the 22nd century in full physical and intellectual strength, while staying up to date with the ever-changing world.
  • Mental Health: Helping Hand is a psychological support platform in Poland, developed in collaboration with therapists and mental health experts to support employees and their families. The platform recognizes the diversity and complexity of challenges faced by both employers and employees, offering comprehensive assistance for individuals as well as organizations.
  • Cancer: CancerCenterAI is an advanced digital platform designed to support cancer diagnostics across multiple areas of medical practice. The platform offers full integration with laboratory equipment such as scanners, slide/barcode printers, stainers, and more. It also connects seamlessly with hospital systems like HIS (Hospital Information Systems), EDM (Electronic Medical Records), and the national P1 health data platform.

Could you share with us what have been the highlights of the Polish EU Presidency?

  • Promotion of AI in healthcare: Through various events and stakeholder dialogues, Poland highlighted the potential of AI in improving diagnostic accuracy, treatment personalization, and healthcare system efficiency.
  • Fostering cooperation among Member States: The Presidency supported cross-border initiatives in digital health, R&D, and innovation funding, helping build a stronger network for knowledge exchange and best practices.
  • Strengthening cybersecurity in health systems: Recognizing the growing risks associated with digitization, Poland prioritized discussions on cybersecurity standards for health infrastructure.
  • Focus on patient-centered innovation: There was a visible push toward empowering patients through digital tools, such as digital therapeutics, and integrating data from wearables and personal devices into national health systems.
