Dr Laura-Maria Horga is a Global Health Communications and Events Expert bringing over six years of experience in strategic content creation, stakeholder engagement, and multi-channel communication within the health and research sector.Laura previously led communications and engagement at Imperial College’s Institute of Global Health Innovation, supporting initiatives across seven centres of excellence to address global health challenges like health inequities, antimicrobial resistance, digital health, climate change, mental health, cancer care, dementia research, and patient safety.
Before that, she worked in strategic communications and social media at the Institute of Cancer Research, enhancing its profile as a leading cancer research institution and charity.Laura conducted research at the University College London, completing a PhD and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in orthopaedics and mental health. Her work explored the impact of marathon running and other exercise programmes on health, integrating science communication and digital outreach.She studied Biotechnology at the University of Manchester, gaining industrial experience in consulting at IPG Health and participating in the Global Graduates Programme in Singapore.
