Opportunities and challenges conference in Budapest

PBN, CONNECTINGHEALTH’s Hungarian project partner, participated in the largest medical technology conference in Hungary on 1st February 2024, with the central theme being “Data that drives the market.” As part of this, we gained insights into the government’s comprehensive industry strategy, which prioritizes the healthcare sector. Within this, pharmaceuticals, medical technology, and biotechnology form the main pillars of action. An outstanding point in shaping healthcare ecosystems is understanding the Hungarian government’s guidelines, which will soon undergo a process of social consultation.

This presents an excellent opportunity for us to integrate the results achieved by the CONNECTINGHEALTH project into national strategic planning as well as to engage and involve domestic experts in the project’s activities.

During the event, we also learned about the Hungarian government’s achievements and planned steps regarding the usability of healthcare data. Additionally, we listened to the presentation titled “Breakthrough points of the Hungarian health industry” by Dr. Miklós Szócska, former Hungarian Minister of Health, who is an expert on domestic e-health and big data solutions.

The remainder of the event focused on topics most relevant to medical devices, such as MDR/IVDR transition strategies, innovation ecosystems, best practices, and conformity assessment bodies, addressing both domestic and international stakeholders from research, education, industry and BSO perspectives.

On 7 February 2024, the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Pécs and the at.home department of PBN held an event entitled Professional Day in the Complex Rehabilitation Ticket. The event provided an interactive professional forum for professionals, researchers and interested parties, the main focus of which was gerontology, i.e. the challenges of ageing and the ageing society, digitalisation of healthcare and complex rehabilitation.

The CONNECTINGHEALTH project was also presented by PBN at the event.
