AHB Symposium VIII

14th & 15th June 2023
14th & 15th June 2023

The role of the private health sector in Africa’s New Public Health Order

The COVID-19 Pandemic has shown that there is a need for Africa to establish stronger surveillance and governance systems, predictable financing mechanisms, better structures to manage pandemics and public health challenges associated with the ongoing economic and political changes.

Africa CDC has launched Africa’s New Public Health Order as a new health standard for Africa’s public health response with a focus on five core pillars, namely:
1. Strengthen African institutions for public health
2. Expand manufacturing of vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutics
3. Invest in the public health workforce and leadership programs
4. Increase domestic investment in health
5. Action-oriented respectful partnerships

The AHBS 2023 will discuss the role of the private sector in attaining the New Public Health Order.

About Africa Health Business Symposium

The Africa Health Business Symposium (AHBS) is a pan-African conference that sits at the heart of the African healthcare scene. Via AHBS, AHB has set the pace towards constructive working relationships between the public and private sector, creating a more enabling environment for the private health sector on the African continent. Following the February Women’s Health Africa Health Business Symposium (AHBS), AHB is curating the next AHBS under the theme: The role of the private sector in advancing Men’s Health in Africa with the objective to prioritise, explore and strengthen the role of the private sector in advancing men’s health in Africa.
