 A seasoned technologist with nearly 20 years of experience in healthcare software development, Dr. Wan has a track record of successfully leading the design and development of interoperable healthcare solutions.  As Director of Engineering at Axolotl, a company credited for creating the health information exchange (HIE) space, Dr. Wan led the development of Axolotl's Elysium product suite, including its HIE platform, Clinical Messaging®, EMR, order entry, eRx, public health reporting and analytics applications.  In her position as Director of Product Strategy at OptumInsight, a UnitedHealth Group company, Dr. Wan played a key role in designing Optum's next generation healthcare cloud platform.


  Edward M. Brown, MD, M.S.M., Chief Executive Officer

Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN)

Dr. Brown is a founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN), one of the largest and most active integrated telemedicine networks in the world.

Dr. Brown has won numerous awards for his work in Telemedicine, including most recently, a Meritorious Service Medal for his contributions to health care in Canada. In 2010, he was chosen as one of 25 Transformational Canadians by a national media panel sponsored by the Globe and Mail, CTV and La Presse. He is a Past President of the American Telemedicine Association, which named him to its College of Fellows in 2015.

An emergency physician who studied mathematics and engineering before embarking on his medical career, Dr. Brown is a passionate advocate for telemedicine as a tool to improve access to care, quality of care and the sustainability of health care systems









Mads Frost, Co-Founder and CPO


Mads Frost, PhD, is a Post Doc at the IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) where he works in the Pervasive Interaction Technology (PIT) lab. Prior to this, Dr. Frost completed his PhD, centered around designing personal health technologies, with MONARCA as an example of this. His main research areas are human-computer interaction (HCI), Pervasive healthcare, Ubiquitous computing, Quantified Self (QS), and Personal Informatics. Additionally, Dr Frost is the Co-founder of Monsenso ApS, where he serves as the Chief Product Officer (CPO). 







Kari Kohtamäki, Key Account Manager


Kari works as Key Account Manager for wellness and healthcare technologies at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd., with special focus on Digital Health. This role involves assessing future trends and customer needs in this field, as well as creating international partnership networks for VTT.

He has a 20-year business background from working with global medical device companies, most recently at GE Healthcare. Kari has gathered an extensive business experience from various international management positions ranging from product development to marketing, sales and business development.

Julie Bretland, Director

This builds on a background of developing, launching and managing innovative mobile services for many years for big corporates and start-ups across Europe and Africa.
She was an expert advisor on digital health at the London Health Commission and set up DigitalHealth.London on behalf of the on behalf of the 3 London Academic Health Science Networks, MedCity and the London Mayor. Matthew HEIN, International Trade Specialist,

Since September 2005, Matthewhas followed medical device issues in Southeast Asia, and tracked domestic and international developments in the Health Information Technology (Health IT) sector. Since 2014, he has added India and China medical device issues to his portfolio.

In October 2010, he completed an 18-month set of courses and work assignments to graduate from the Commerce Department’s Executive Leadership Development Program. Prior to joining ITA, Mr. Hein worked as a statistician/economist for two trade associations, the Beer Institute (1994-2004) and the National Automobile Dealers Association (2004-2005). Mr. Hein received his MBA from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1988.



Dr Karen Bell, Workgroup Chair, Director of the Center for Health and Care,

Karen Bell, MD, MMS, is Director of the JBS Center for Sustainable Health and Care  --  an organization devoted to assuring that all components and participants in health care reform have the support and services needed to successfully reach their goals of high quality cost effective care that meets the needs of all patients and clients.  Dr. Bell has extended and varied expertise in health information technology (HIT), quality assurance, clinical practice, and public health in both the private and public sectors.   As  Chair of the Certification Commission for HIT for 5 years,  she lead the development and publication of the ACO/HIT Framework  --   a publically available document that guides organizations through the health care transformation process.   Between 2005 and 2008, Dr. Bell was Director, Office of Health Information Technology Adoption, Office of the National Coordinator (ONC), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and, in 2006, served as Acting Deputy of ONC when the National Coordinator position was under recruitment..  She currently serves on the Massachusetts HIT Council, the governance body which oversees the development of the state’s HIT infrastructure.  She also serves on the boards of Healtinfonet, Maine’s  statewide HIE, and Onpoint Health Data, a data integration and analytics group that creates all payer claims data bases in a number of states. 

Prior appointments held by Dr. Bell include Senior Vice President, HIT Services, Masspro, the federally-contracted  Quality Improvement Organization within Massachusetts; Division Director, Quality Improvement Group/Office of Standards and Quality for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) from 2004 to 2005; and Medical Director of Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) of Rhode Island (2004) and of Anthem BCBS of Maine (2001-2004).  She also has served as Associate Medical Director, Partners Community Healthcare, Inc., Boston; Medical Director, BCBS of Massachusetts; Associate Medical Director, Harvard Community Health Plan/Pilgrim Health Care, Boston; and Deputy and Acting Health Director, Monroe County Health Department, Rochester, N.Y.  She received her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston, and her master of medical science degree from Brown University, Providence, R.I.  Dr. Bell has clinical experience as a board certified physician in internal medicine and also was an Associate Professor at the University of Rochester, and Clinical Instructor at Harvard University School of Medicine. 



William Rudmann PhD, RHIA, Executive Director

Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science

Executive Director of the Institute and serves as Faculty in the Chicago School of Medicine and serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet within Rosalind Franklin University. In his role as Executive Director, Rudman is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Institute, which includes managing committees and staff as well as developing business plans in collaboration with the University President or his/her designee and the Institute Executive Council.

Before moving to the Institute, Rudman was the Executive Director and VP of Academic Visioning for the AHIMA Foundation and has worked for 20 years in Academia as a Professor in health information management. Rudman also served as the director of the HIT core for the Delta Regional Institute and oversaw implementation of an electronic exchange for tracking medical errors in a network of rural Mississippi hospitals. He served on the state of Mississippi Task Force for health information exchange, and chaired the education committee. Rudman was the PI on the HISPC grant for education and training for the implementation of electronic medical records for the state of Tennessee.



Yuri Quintana PhD, Director 

Global Health Informatics

Yuri is the Director of Global Health Informatics in the Division of Clinical Informatics, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School. His research is focused on developing innovative technologies and systems that empower communities of healthcare professionals, patients and families to collaborate on a worldwide basis. He has developed several global online collaboration networks for health care delivery and innovative applications in mobile health. 
Previously, Quintana was a principal investigator in the Canadian HealNet Research Network, focusing on consumer health informatics, and a faculty member at the University of Western Ontario. Quintana also served as director of the New Media Research Lab developing innovations in interactive media and online education. He has held high-tech positions at IBM Canada Limited and Watcom. He has been the chair of five international conferences on medical informatics. Quintana obtained his engineering degrees from the University of Waterloo in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Systems Design Engineering. 



Dominique Hurley, Vice President,

Strategic Partnerships Innovation at HealthVerity

Dominique is an expert in Bio/Pharma commercial operations with a focus on commercial data enablement. She is currently Vice President of Innovation and Strategy for HealthVerity a cloud-based technology company enhancing the transparency, availability, and cost-efficiency in healthcare data access and management. Prior to HealthVerity, Dominique was Senior Director, Commercial Operations at Biogen where she led the aggregation of specialty pharmacy data for the multiple sclerosis and hematology franchises unifying the information and its use across the enterprise.

She also led key initiatives on measurement and reporting strategy to support a better understanding of patient and physician needs for both mature and launch brands. Prior to Biogen, she led the information strategy, technology and commercial operations set up for Ironwood Pharmaceuticals in advance of their first commercial launch, Linzess



 Giles WARD, COO

 Hashed Health

Giles Ward has spent most of his career in Healthcare starting at WebMD/ Emdeon (now Change Healthcare) and then with LBMC a Nashville based healthcare transaction consulting group.  In 2008 he moved in-house with one of his clients, DSI Renal, where a debt restructuring and turn around led to a successful sale to DaVita in 2012. 

After the sale of DSI, part of the management team got backing to buy back sites in the FTC mandated divestiture.  Through organic growth and acquisition, the second iteration of DSI grew from 30 to 100 centers before merging with US Renal at the end of 2015. After the merger, Giles spent the summer not checking email and playing hooky with family in his native South Africa before returning to help start Hashed Health. 



 Bill CHAMBLIN, Chief Operating Officer 


During his career, Bill has built businesses in highly technical areas. During 20 years in telecommunications industry, he was a co-founder/president of a fully integrated, regional mobile network operator (MNO) covering a large, multi-county area in central PA.  Bill also led Life Mist Technologies in its primary mission to commercialize an acoustic atomization technology in several key markets. Recently, this company focused on broad area healthcare decontamination involving the eradication of pathogens in hospitals that cause Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI’s).  Bill is currently a Partner with EnableHealth, a professional services company dedicated to advancing healthcare globally through the innovative application of technology.  In addition, he is the COO for BlockChange, an initiative involving both a global, virtual accelerator for blockchain entrepreneurs and a pan-industry Global Blockchain Center of Excellence (CoE) organized to support the visibility, growth, standards, best practices and commercialization of this emerging technology.  At its core, the CoE will act as a preeminent educational hub for the blockchain and support of use cases in business and government. Working closely with Penn Center for Innovation Ventures, Bill is the acting CEO of Excetra, a young company founded to commercialize Penn Medicine IP involving orthopaedic arthroscopic surgical instruments for procedures on the knee. He also serves in a mentorship role for Canadian Technology Accelerator to support young Canadian health IT companies with product commercialization in the US. Bill is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where he completed both English and Pre-medical studies.  He also participated in a graduate Biology program at Tulane University.

Her career began as an engaged clinician and transitioned to sales and management where she has found her passion. Tina’s mission has been to develop and implement short and long-term solutions to meet the modern healthcare needs for multiple environments. She has worked with many of the top health care institutions in the US and Canada providing professional services, hardware and software solutions for medical practices, surgical centers, hospitals and laboratories. She joined Pulse from EndoSoft, where she served as vice president of sales and marketing. Larry Steinberg, MBA, is EVP of Global Business Development and Co-founder of Cloud DX.  Larry has been focused on the Telehealth/Telemedicine market for the last 7 years and has been involved in some of the largest Remote Patient Monitoring deployments in the US.  His vast experience in Telehealth includes deploying thousands of vital sign monitoring devices to 10’s of thousands of patients.

As a seasoned entrepreneur, Larry has had many successful businesses in healthcare, technology and services including being founder of his background check company - AppChek.  Most recently and prior to being a Co-founder of Cloud DX, Larry was Director of Business Development at Trapollo, the leading Telehealth Service Provider that was purchased by Cox Communications in 2015.
