Gisela García Álvarez is a Doctor in biochemistry by training and a global citizen by vocation, holding over 15 years of experience in health systems research across Europe and Asia, with numerous peer-reviewed publications. Her passion for management led her to play a pivotal role in launching Singapore’s first health and life sciences cluster in 2010, a role she balanced alongside her research and teaching activities. Gisela’s drive for making things work, coupled with life events, brought her to Galicia, Spain, where she served as Managing Director of the Galician Health Cluster (CSG) from mid-2016 to early 2024. During these nearly eight years, she spearheaded a successful internationalization strategy for companies in the care sector, developed high value-added services, and attracted public funds and investments, significantly benefiting both the ecosystem and the region. Additionally, she established ITGALL, the first Galician social care living lab network, where tech and digital solutions are rigorously tested and was the ECHAlliance Galician Ecosystem Coordinator.

Recently, Gisela shifted her focus towards scaling health and care innovation projects by working as a freelancer under her Singapore-based brand, LEX GLOBALMINDS. Through this platform, together with her team, she offers consulting and strategy services . Her latest endeavour is the Innovation Super-Highways Initiative, designed to create a seamless, collaborative platform for businesses across critical sectors such as digital health, medical devices, biotechnology, healthcare, caregiving, agriculture, food production, clean energy, and environmental sustainability. The initiative provides numerous opportunities for cross-border collaboration, including co-funded projects that offer financial support for joint ventures. Additionally, it simplifies regulatory navigation, aiding businesses in achieving market compliance, and streamlining their market entry and expansion processes.

Singapore, the EU, and the UK are the initial targets of the Innovation Super-Highways Initiative.
