Around 60 professionals from different sectors of Human Health met in Madrid (Spain) on 25/26 of March to analyse and share best practices on the responsible use of antimicrobials.
This event was celebrated in Meliá Serrano Hotel, in Madrid and it was jointly organized by the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices (AEMPS) and the Andalusian Health Service (SAS), leaders of the work areas of Steradship in Human In the Joint Action.
The workshop highlighted the need to implement more effective and sustainable strategies to reduce inappropriate prescribing and improve awareness among professionals and patients. Also, issues were discussed like the models of Primary Care in Europe, the antimicrobial steawardship programmes, the use of rapid test for diagnostics and the adherence to antimicrobial therapeutic guidelines.The insights obtained from these discussions will be reflected in a European framework for AMS programs in hospitals, primary care, and Long-term Care Facilities (LTCF) and the creation of a self-assessment system for AMS programs in human health.
FundeSalud and Extremadura Health Service (SES) are playing a key role in this project, reaffirming their commitment to public health and fight against antimicrobial resistance.
