Enhancing the management of malnutrition across the continuum of care using cloud-based computing (nutrition cloud®)

Co-founder Nutrition Cloud Pty Ltd

Disease-related malnutrition is a common and growing public health problem estimated to cost NHS over £30 billion per year and with predicted population changes this is predicted to exceed £70 billion by the year 2042. Whilst nutritional support is one of the most clinically and cost-effective treatments available to the NHS, patients frequency pass between healthcare settings making continuity and coordination of nutritional care challenging. In addition, at a time when patients are at their most unwell, expert advice relating to nutritional care plans can be forgotten. This results in nutritional care being reactive, intermittent and uncoordinated, whereas best practice nutritional care is proactive, continuous and coordinated.

Healthcare systems around the world are increasingly exploring the potential for health technology, such as integrated electronic medical records (iEMR), to compliment the delivery of services provided by the NHS in order to enhance patient outcomes and improve service efficiency.

After more than a decade conducting research exploring the impact of malnutrition and the effectiveness and delivery of nutritional support, in October 2017 Peter co-founded Nutrition Cloud® along with Mitch Anderson (App Specialist, eHealth, Queensland Health). Nutrition Cloud® is a software medical device company based in Brisbane whose purpose is to assist dietitians and healthcare professionals around the world deliver exceptional nutritional care across all healthcare settings and empower and support patients and their families.

In this presentation Peter will provide an overview of the Nutrition Cloud® software and discuss potential collaborative opportunities with Nutrition and Dietetic Departments across London.
