At the Blockchain inspirational seminar held by the Health Innovation Centre of Southern Denmark in collaboration with MedCom and the Research Parks of Southern Denmark, in Odense on 30th May 2018, more than 100 participants from all corners of the Danish healthcare sector had no doubt: Blockchain has a place in the future Danish healthcare sector!

- Because Blockchain enables sharing of large amounts of data more efficiently and because Blockchain increases data security.

- The challenges lie within e.g. governance and ethics: who should make decisions about data? And how do we handle data ethics?

The Blockchain event included:

  • An introduction to Blockchain, its history, technology and development perspectives by representatives of the Nordic Blockchain Association
  • Perspectives for Blockchain in the Danish healthcare sector under the headline “Trust is good, blockchain is better”.
  • Inspiration from Blockchain as a platform for the Estonian healthcare sector
  • Blockchain, supply chain and the right to be forgotten by Head of IBM Blockchain Nordic
  • Blockchain, GDPR and governance as well as legal challenges in distributed and decentral structures in public systems
  • The ethical perspective on health data: “which society are we heading towards?” by ethics professor
  • Panel debate: “what have we learnt? Does Blockchain have a future in the Danish healthcare sector?”
