Wednesday 28th March by Digital Health & Care Institute:

Our research and knowledge management team were commissioned by Skills Development Scotland to undertake a comprehensive review and analysis of the digital health sector and its skills issues in Scotland. We organised a breakfast meet-up to give key participants a sneak preview of the emerging findings on present skills issues and challenges facing the digital health sector, and to give attendees an opportunity to discuss the skills agenda and comment on the draft recommendations in the forthcoming publication. We had the opportunity to hear from Christopher Wroath (Director of Digital for NHS Education for Scotland) and Colin Gray (Scotland Director – Orion Health) who shared their insights on the developments in the digital health sector and its skills issues from the perspectives of the public and private sectors and fully endorsed our recommendations. The main recommendations that were highlighted as being key were:

  • A review of the current curriculum
  • Better alignment and more collaboration between the digital health industry and the education sector
  • Raising the profile of the digital health sector in Scotland to attract talented graduates with the right skills

The report, which includes insights from consultations with 10 different Digital Health companies will be released in April and we will keep you updated with its release! In the meantime, you can follow this link to the livestream of the event to catch up on the discussions!
