• Speaker: Carme Pratdepàdua i Bufill, manager at Foundation TicSalut
• Moderator: Julien Venne, Strategic Advisor at ECHAlliance

On February of 2015, the Catalan government approved a master plan defining strategies to enhance the medical assistance using mobile devices within Catalonia, called Catalan mHealth Plan.

One of these strategies is the development of the mHealth hub, an accreditation model for mobile applications belonging to the Health and Social Care sectors, aiming to promote the usage of secure and high-quality apps by patients and professionals. The mHealth hub relays in the AppSalut website, which is a showroom of applications that have already passed an accreditation process and are ready to be advised by professionals to their patients through the Information Systems. Once a patient uses one of these apps, the information generated by them can be integrated to the patient’s Personal Health Record, which is stored in the Information Systems of the Healthcare authority of Catalonia.

The mHealth hub project is about to start the pilot phase, which will last three months, will be developed in four primary care centres in Catalonia and will be used by 150 users, either professionals or patients.

The goals of this pilot are to test the technological part of the System, to start prescribing a range of few app to the patients, to check the data generated through the professional’s Information Systems, and to assess the usability and user experience of professionals and patients. The pilot stage will help with the definition of candidate improvements for the project and to verify that the initial demands are covered.

During the webinar was it was presented how Catalonia is approaching the mHealth Integration in healthcare procedures, presenting the AppSalut website and showing how professionals, patients and developers can benefit from it and presenting the accreditation process we have defined.
