Innovate UK Digital Health Catalyst & Accelerating Digital Healthcare Technology

Briefing Session - Thursday 7 September 2017

Innovate UK have announced it is to invest up to £8 million in projects that develop new digital technology solutions to healthcare challenges.  Projects must focus on the development of digital health or digitally-enabled medical technologies, that have the potential to achieve one or more of the following:

  • improve patient outcomes
  • transform healthcare delivery
  • enable more efficient delivery of healthcare

This call is part of the new £35m Digital Health Technology Catalyst funding programme to be funded through the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund over the next 4 years.

Innovate UK will be hosting a briefing session on the new fund on Thursday 7 September 2017 at NIBEC, University of Ulster Jordanstown, in conjunction with NI Connected health Innovation Centre. Full Details of the event below.

Briefing Session Details

Innovate UK Digital Health Catalyst  & Accelerating Digital Healthcare Technology

Venue: NIBEC, Ulster University, Jordanstown

Time: 1.15pm registration, 1.30pm start

1.30pm – 2.30pm     Available Funding: Innovate UK’s Digital Health Technology Catalyst Round 1

Dr Kath McKay, Innovate UK’s Deputy Director Health and Life Sciences, will provide an overview of the Digital Health Technology Catalyst, a new £35 million funding programme to be funded through the UK Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund over the next 4 years. Round 1 of the Catalyst closes on October 11th 2017 and includes funding for:

·       Feasibility projects which must range in size from total project costs of £50,000 to £75,000 and be completed within one year.

·       Industrial research and experimental development projects, which must range in size from total project costs of £500,000 to £1 million and be completed within 3 years.

2.30pm – 3.3pm      Rapid Prototyping Devices

NIBEC new device labs will provide short highlights on capabilities and experience, that will allow rapid prototyping of a device from idea to proof of concept, including:

·       Use of emerging Sensors and circuit board development

·       Novel Network Developments (LoRA/Sigfox/BLE Mesh)

·       Integrating data collection devices to mobile platforms

·       Use of Data analytics (Advanced analytics/Decision Support/AI/Machine Learning)

3.30pm Demonstration tour of the £4m bio devices capability
